Whole30 Day 7 – Weight Loss!

Monday morning confession:  I have still been weighing myself daily this first week to ensure I wasn’t eating too many carbs.  At first my weight remained steady give or take a few ounces.

Since I started the supplement again, my weight is down 2 lbs in 2 days after a 3 week stall, so deficiency  was definitely the issue.  My appetite is also reduced and skin is no longer dry – I am going to start spacing out that extra 1/2 thyroid pill to every 3 days instead of 2 days. Energy also improved.  That’s pretty good for 2 days on the supplement. I think my insulin / sugar levels are pretty stable now.   I’ll keep up the extra fruit and snacks for a couple more days to ensure I don’t bonk again.

FYI, the multivitamin supplement contains Biotin, potassium, magnesium, selenium, chromium, & iodine.  I’m pretty sure I’m deficient in one or all of these, especially Biotin.

So now I know it’s working (mitochondrial function, I think it’s called?) I’ll stop tracking my food & weight so closely. I’ll continue to post periodically during my Whole30 if I get some more insights or good tips/recipes, but will probably not be posting daily.

I did further research and am convinced I have a systemic fungal issue. The large light brown patches on my face, white tongue and my thick yellow toenails being the biggest clues. I’ve started cutting out more pro-fungal foods and will do a full Candida diet after Whole30.

I’ve been taking Biotin for about a year. Not sure what it does but it must be good 🙂

    • Biotin deficiency would explain a lot of issues I have like hair loss and peripheral numbness. The supplement I’m taking right now has 2 grams. Just ordered a shampoo that also has Biotin. Seems Biotin is also helpful for fungus so I think it will be a good supplement for me.

      • And apparently that weird patchy red rash I was getting on my face recently could also be a biotin deficiency…this Damage Control Master Formula has a zillion ingredients so hard to say exactly what the magic ingredient(s) are…but luckily it’s working!
